It all started one January day. It took almost a month but we finished and are quite happy with the revisions. As you can see, the old house was quite a mess and it was a lot of work but well worth it.
The pressure was on to complete the job as running up and down the stairs in the middle of the night was somewhat dangerous. A cat could be laying in the middle of the stairs, lying in wait. We completed the project without any injuries.
The new bathtub, sink, countertop, floor and toilet are quite nice. We tiled around the shower with ceramic tiles and, althought it was a lot of work, it looks very nice. The bathtub was a tight fit and required that we cut a hole in the wall to get it into place. The plumbing was a nightmare, matching up to the old piping. I got some 'Shark' fittings at Home Depot that just clamp onto the copper pipe and allow you to use PVC from that point on. That was a lot easier than trying to solder to those old pipes. We had to relocate the faucet and showerhead because the new bathtub was
a bit wider.
Corrine did a wonderful job of setting the tiles and kept me busy running back and forth to the tile saw cutting pieces to fit. We had enough tiles to go all the way to the ceiling and out past the tub. The tiles make the room look much bigger.
The old countertop was quite a mess so we just screwed some new fiberboard on top of it and glued down some laminate. The new sink was a different shape so it requited a new top. We put panels on the walls up to the tile so didn't have to do much taping a plastering. The new paint was quite bright and clean.
As you can see, it is now complete and we are enjoying it. You can, too. Come and say "Hello".
Ode de Toilet
We started this backbreaking task
With dirty clothes and dusk mask
We fixed the walls and floor
Installed fixtures and more
New countertop and a gallon of white
Made the room a beautiful sight
So come and visit but don't rush
Have a seat and Don't Forget to Flush
